Maryland Wear & Carry Permit Course

Take the first step toward obtaining your Maryland Wear & Carry Permit with our comprehensive 16-hour Maryland State Police–approved training course. This in-person program covers essential topics including Maryland firearm laws, self-defense principles, safe firearm handling and storage, and concludes with the required live-fire qualification on the range.

Course Includes

Requirements

• Must be 21 years of age or older

• Valid government-issued photo ID required

Important Information

• We also offer virtual instruction for certain portions of our training; however, all students will still be required to complete an in-person range session in order to meet licensing requirements and ensure proper hands-on qualification.

• Students are responsible for completing fingerprinting and paying all applicable Maryland State Police application fees.

• Students are responsible for a $25 range fee and for either bringing their own ammunition or purchasing it at the range.

• Individuals who are currently registered as Maryland medical cannabis patients are generally not eligible to obtain a Maryland Handgun Qualification License (HQL) due to federal firearms laws prohibiting firearm possession or purchase by marijuana users, even when marijuana use is lawful under Maryland law.
